Quick answer

The basic Glider is crafted at a Workbench from 8 Shroud Wood, 2 Animal Fur, 2 String and 2 Shroud Spores. For the Advanced Glider, the Carpenter recipe lists 6 Shroud Wood, 4 Linen, 4 String and 8 Shroud Sack. These are separate recipes, not the same list with a larger wood requirement. Use the correct wood

Shroud Wood comes from dead trees in the Shroud, according to the material reference. Ordinary Wood Logs are a different item. Confirm the inventory label before returning to the Workbench with a bag full of the wrong resource. Shroud Wood reference.

Before entering, choose a short gathering objective and identify your way back. Do not make a first resource trip depend on a long glide that you have not yet tested with your character and settings.

Craft and equip the first Glider

Open the Workbench and check the Glider entry against the four-item list above. The reference lists the Workbench plus discovered basic materials among its unlock conditions. If the entry is absent, compare that condition rather than searching the Carpenter's upgrade menu first.

Equip the crafted item and check your Glider action binding. The in-game description says to deploy it while airborne; a controller button or keyboard key can differ with your configuration. Test over a short, forgiving drop with a visible landing area before attempting a major crossing.

Prepare the Advanced Glider materials

The Advanced entry lists the rescued Carpenter, together with discovered Linen or the rescued Hunter, among its unlock paths. Keep Shroud Sack distinct from Shroud Spores when packing the ingredients. A visually similar name does not satisfy the recipe.

For Linen production, see Flax and the three spinning recipes. Check the four-Linen requirement before processing a large farming reserve.

Plan a landing rather than assuming a range

The data describes the Advanced Glider as offering greater range than the first model. That does not establish a guaranteed distance for a particular jump. Starting height, stamina, terrain and world settings can change the practical result.

Choose a landing point and an alternate before takeoff. If a test fails, identify whether the problem was deployment, stamina or the approach; collecting more crafting materials will not correct an unbound action key.

Gliding controls after the 1.0 transition

Keen's 1.0 notes say custom bindings were reset for the changed controls, and Updraft behavior can be configured. If a previously familiar action stops working, inspect the binding and world setting before recrafting the Glider. This is a settings check inferred from the official changelog, not an independently reproduced gliding bug. The returning-player checklist covers the related skill-point check.
