Quick answer

A standard greenhouse has 12 columns and 10 rows of crop soil. With six ordinary Iridium Sprinklers, four can occupy crop tiles and two can sit on the wooden border, leaving 116 crop spaces. This layout uses no Pressure Nozzles. Greenhouse reference.

Number the soil before placing sprinklers

For this plan, count soil columns 1–12 from left to right and rows 1–10 from top to bottom. Treat the wooden border immediately to the right as column 13. These coordinates describe our planning grid; they are not coordinates displayed by the game.

  • Place crop-area sprinklers at (3,3), (8,3), (3,8) and (8,8).
  • Place the remaining two on the right border at (13,3) and (13,8).

Why those six positions cover the rectangle

An ordinary Iridium Sprinkler waters the 24 surrounding tiles in a 5-by-5 square. Its own tile is occupied by the machine. The crafting recipe unlocks at Farming level 9, using 1 Gold Bar, 1 Iridium Bar and 1 Battery Pack. Iridium Sprinkler rules.

The arithmetic of our grid is straightforward: centers at columns 3, 8 and 13 reach columns 1–5, 6–10 and 11–15. Only columns 1–12 are soil. Centers at rows 3 and 8 cover rows 1–5 and 6–10. Four sprinkler centers occupy soil, so 120 minus 4 equals 116 available planting tiles.

Check the next morning

Place the machines before committing expensive seeds, then inspect the soil after their morning watering. A simple commissioning checklist is useful:

  • Confirm that all six machines are Iridium Sprinklers, not Quality Sprinklers.
  • Count the soil edge separately from the wooden border.
  • Check both far-right crop columns and all four corners.
  • If a dry strip remains, recount the nearest center before moving every machine.

This test makes a one-tile placement error easier to isolate.

Unlock and planting reminders

The greenhouse is repaired through the Pantry bundles or the 35,000g Joja project. Indoor crops still need watering, including on rainy days. Unlock and watering rules.

For an eventual Ancient Fruit planting, see Ancient Seed versus Ancient Seeds. Keep the machine layout and seed-expansion decision separate so you can change crops without redesigning the irrigation.

Compare Quality and Iridium with our coverage model

The interactive greenhouse planner lets you remove a sprinkler, change its type or try a border position before moving anything in your save. The preset comparison evaluates all 120 soil tiles individually and excludes sprinkler-occupied tiles from crop capacity.

  • Six Iridium Sprinklers: four on soil and two on the border; 116 watered crop spaces, zero uncovered crop spaces.
  • Sixteen Quality Sprinklers: twelve on soil and four on the lower border; 108 watered crop spaces, zero uncovered crop spaces.
  • Difference: eight more crop spaces in the Iridium preset, about 7.4% more than the Quality preset. This is planting capacity, not a measured increase in gold per day.

The Quality comparison uses columns 2, 5, 8 and 11, crossed with rows 2, 5, 8 and 11. Row 11 is the wooden border. You can reproduce both layouts with the preset buttons, then remove one machine to reveal its uncovered area.

Original analysis: The coverage calculations and interactive controls were tested by this website. The underlying watering rules come from the linked game references; we have not independently playtested the greenhouse in a game save. No Pressure Nozzles, retaining soil, fruit-tree placement or modded greenhouse dimensions are modeled.

If you already own Quality Sprinklers, the 108-crop preset provides a complete temporary layout. Upgrade when the eight recovered crop spaces are worth the materials to you. Open the planner and check that its unwatered count remains zero after every edit.

Connect the layout to a processing plan

Once the irrigation is working, decide whether the limiting resource is fruit or machine capacity. Our Ancient Fruit Wine versus Dehydrator comparison normalizes both options to five fruit and explains why eventual sale value and queue length lead to different decisions.
